The Green Aviation Show will be taking place in June 2010, from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th. It is organized by the National Air and Space Museum on the grounds of Paris-Le Bourget airport, the exhibit is sponsored by the French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) and its director, Patrick Gandil.
The second edition of this ecological aviation meeting presents the latest technological innovations including electric and solar airplanes, new materials and alternative fuels. The concept of “green aviation” will evolve in full view of the public, showcasing ULM, paramotors, light airplanes, solar dirigibles and more.
The First ‘Zero Emission’ Airshow
For the first time in the world, the Green Aviation Show proposes a flight demonstration program which, by focusing on electrical and non-motorised flight, has (almost) no environmental impact. The ‘emission free’ flying vehicles include:
• Solar dirigible balloon with hydrogen
• Electrical “Paramotor”
• Electrical and hydrogen microlight
• Light electrical aircraft, with hydrogen and/or solar system
• Glider
• Hang-glider
• Paraglider
• Electrical scale models
The show will be centered on four centers displaying different perspectives on future aviation. This allows the public to discover all the industrial innovations.
The ELECTRICAL CENTER will show that the electric airplane no longer needs to exist only in utopia. The Cri-Cri, the smallest twin-engined plane in the world, will be presented in an electric version. Just as the maiden, electric version of the not less famous Girl.
The SOLAR CENTER will delve further into innovation with the participation of the Sunseeker, the first solar airplane to have flown the world. Eric Raymond will also present his project, solar Stemme.
The BALLOON CENTER will show that the lightest air transport is absolutely possible, even though it was written off by airline companies. Stéphane Rousson will display his Zeppy 3. The Voliris, powered with hydrogen, and the solar powered, Néphélios, will also be available for viewing.
The CENTER AEROPORTUAIRE will present the actors that participate in the sustainable development of the airports. The center will include airport corporations that assist in developing the following procedures “clean” manufacturers of surfaces such as tarmac, “eco-vegetation” and more.
Last but not least, there will be two strong presences: the CORAC (Committee of Orientation for the Civil Aeronautical Research) managed by the DGAC and the GIFAS which groups together the body of the French aeronautical industry. This was created in order to define actions of technological research and innovation in the area of civil aeronautics.
Take note that in addition to the above centers, there will also be a group of around fifty Fournier motor-gliders and their builder Mr Reemerged Fournier that will celebrate 50 years of his invention.
An aeronautical show reaching the heart of the ecological challenge
More than 60 exhibitors will be present in the Concord Lobby and on the Tarmac of the Air and Space Museum. The museum will transform itself in order to create a forum for aviation encounters and a laboratory of ideas. While the aeronautical sector continues efforts to reduce its environmental impact, the show has created an ideal platform to wrestle and create positive solutions to this growing dilemma.
The Green Aviation Show will present to the public, solutions currently in development: new materials, fuels and alternate motorizations (biofuels, motors Diesel, electric, muscular energies, batteries to combustible…), operational improvements (fluidity of the traffic, management of the airports…). Several lectures and round tables are proposed.
the exhibit is sponsored by the French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) and its director, Patrick Gandil, who anticipates that “this ‘green’ aviation exhibit at the Bourget will become a platform with a flight plan highlighting environmental enhancement with real positive impact”.
