Eastidlands Airport has announced a few weeks ago plans to have four giant wind turbines built by the end of this year, which will be used to generate electricity for the airport. The turbines will generate 900 kilowatt hours of electricity – without any emissions to pollute the environment – which is enough to cover about 10% of the airport’s energy needs. This project is part of a wider plan to make the airport’s ground operations carbon neutral.

Ryanair – Ryanair has 37 bases and over 950 low fare routes across 26 countries, connecting 150 destinations. Ryanair operates a fleet of 210 new Boeing 737-800 aircraft with firm orders for a further 102 new aircraft, which will be delivered over the next 2.5 years.
Thomsonfly – Created in 1962, Thomsonfly operates lowcost flights and forms part of the TUI Group. The airline operates a fleet of 47 Boeing and has carried in 2007, 8 million passengers.
